Tips for Selecting and Cleaning Laminators

Choose based on sealing time: Before actually purchasing a sealing machine, you need to determine how many items—such as 30 sheets of paper or 40 photos—you’ll be sealing each day or each hour. Different sealing machines have varying forming speeds and different preheating times. By selecting a machine that matches your sealing time requirements, you can conserve resources and improve sealing efficiency. Choose according to the required sealing size: Are you sealing multiple photos or documents? If you’re using plastic packaging for everyday household items—such as A6 photos, driver’s licenses, or A4-printed documents—a standard A4 plastic sealing machine should suffice. However, if you plan to seal larger items, like construction drawings in A3 size or large menus posted on display boards, you’ll need...

Select based on the sealing time: Before actually purchasing a sealing machine, you need to know how many items need to be sealed per day or per hour. 30 sheets of paper, 40 photographs. Different molding machines have different forming speeds. Moreover, their preheating times vary. By adjusting these preheating times according to the sealing duration, we can conserve resources and improve sealing efficiency.

Select according to the required sealing size: Are you sealing multiple photos or documents? If it’s for everyday household plastic packaging, such as... For A6 photos, driver’s licenses, and A4-printed documents, an A4 plastic packaging machine will be sufficient for your needs. If you want to use plastic packaging for larger items—such as construction drawings the size of A3 paper or large menus posted on display boards—you’ll need an A3 laminator.

When selecting a laminator, it’s recommended to purchase from a reputable brand to ensure you get a durable machine with excellent lamination results. Avoid issues such as image and document distortion or bubbling caused by poor-quality plastic packaging on the machine.

In addition, different sealing machines use plastic packaging films of varying thicknesses. Thin plastic films are lightweight and soft, and are often used for... A4-sized documents and family photos—these are typically stored in thick, rigid plastic sleeves designed for use with identification cards, driver’s licenses, badges, and other similar items. Different manufacturers offer plastic films of varying thicknesses. Be sure to carefully consider your needs before making a purchase. If you have your own plastic packaging machine, you’ll be able to select the most suitable one for your requirements.

Method for cleaning the glue wheels of a hot melt adhesive sealing machine: 1. During operation, the glue roller of the hot-melt adhesive laminator often accumulates debris such as fabric fibers, paper scraps, and carbonized particles in the glue reservoir. The glue reservoir is driven by the continuous rotation of the gluing roller, causing these contaminants to stick between the roller and the doctor blade, thereby affecting the uniformity of the adhesive application. In such cases, it is essential to remove these residues promptly. 2. First, the glue roller of the hot-melt adhesive laminator must be adjusted upward (to prevent adhesion of glue). Then, slowly operate the roller and make fine adjustments to the amount of adhesive applied to the workpiece. Specifically, rotate the roller clockwise to significantly increase the adhesive application rate and widen the gap between the roller and the doctor blade. This allows fabric fibers to naturally pass through the gap and be gradually removed along the surface of the roller. After removing the debris, immediately stop the roller’s operation and use tools to carefully clear away any remaining fibers or fragments. If you repeat this process several times, you’ll be able to quickly eliminate any debris or particles that have become lodged between the roller and the doctor blade. 3. Once all debris has been thoroughly cleaned, readjust the adhesive application amount and press the roller into the appropriate position. The hot-melt adhesive laminator can then resume normal operation.

A Brief Discussion on the Second Reason for Insecure Sealing in Packaging Machines

The inability to seal properly is also related to the quality of the heat-sealing film. If the corona treatment on the composite liner is uneven and ineffective, and happens to occur precisely at the sealing area, the seal will definitely fail. Although this situation is rare, once it occurs, the product is inevitably scrapped. Therefore, in the color-printed packaging industry, this is a problem that must be addressed by the next stage...
